Negros Island

Apo Island
Apo Island is a volcanic island covering 74 hectares in land area, 7 kilometers off the southeastern tip of Negros Island. Apo Island was a community-organized marine sanctuaries. At present, the island is home to over 650 documented species of fish and estimated to have over 400 species of corals. Most of the Philippines' 450 species of coral can be found here, from tiny bubble corals to huge gorgonian sea fans and brain corals.

Snorkeling near Apo Island
Snorkeling is very good near the western coast of the island of Apo facing the island of Negros. This side is protected from the winds, so there are magnificent thickets of soft corals, of various shapes and colors. Also here you can find sea turtles.

Twin Lakes
Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park is a park surrounding Lake Balinsasayao and Lake Danao in the province of Negros Oriental, 14.5 kilometres west of Dumaguete. Lakes Balinsasayao and Danao are two small crater lakes separated by a narrow mountain ridge. The park is located in the Mount Talinis range, in the southern portion of Negros Island. It covers an area of 8 000 hectares, with heights ranging from 830 to 846 metres. It was declared a protected area in 2000. Here you can enjoy hiking along the mountain paths around the lakes, virgin jungles and beautiful views.

Dumaguete City
The City of Dumaguete is a capital of the province of Negros Oriental. The city's nickname is The City of Gentle People.
Dumaguete is referred to as a university city because of the presence of four universities and a number of other colleges. The city is best known for Silliman University, the country's first Protestant university and the first American university in Asia.
Dumaguete attracts a considerable number of foreign tourists, particularly Europeans, because of beach resorts and dive sites, the attraction of dolphin and whale watching in nearby Bais City. Dumaguete is listed 5th in Forbes Magazine's "7 Best Places to Retire Around the World".

The Church of St. Catherine
The main attraction of the city is the Cathedral, built by the Spaniards in the 18th century. Today the cathedral is known as the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria. Inside is quite spacious and light. There are a lot of Christian-style sculptures in the Cathedral, and stunning paintings hang around the altar. A short stay on the territory of the temple charges you with a positive and good mood, it is very quiet and calm here, some kind of security and peace is felt.

Rizal Boulevard
Dumaguete is a relatively small town, its whole life is concentrated in the center, near Rizal Boulevard - the city embankment, which is a very pleasant place. It is good to make an evening walk along it, have a snack in a cafe and meet friends, and in the afternoon hide from the heat in the shade of huge trees.
