Cebu Island and City
Cebu is the oldest city in the Philippines. With it the main historical events of the country are associated . Arriving in Cebu City, Magellan befriended Rajah Humabon (the King of Cebu), and persuaded the natives to ally themselves with Charles I of Spain.
On April 14, 1521 Humabon and his wife were baptazed and given Christian names Carlos and Juana.
On the day of baptism the Santo Niño - statuette of baby Jesus was presented to the native queen of Cebu, as a symbol of peace and friendship between the Spaniards and the Cebuanos.
On 14 April Magellan erected a large wooden cross on the shores of Cebu. Afterwards, about 700 islanders were baptized.
Basilica Minore Del Santo Nino
The Basílica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebú (Minor Basilica of the Holy Child of Cebú)  is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country. It is built on the spot where according to a legend the image of the Santo Niño de Cebú was found during the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi in 1565.

As people think, it was the same statuette of the Child Jesus, presented by Ferdinand Magellan to the queen of Cebu. It was found by a soldier forty years later, preserved in a wooden box. Later it is declared to be "the symbol of the birth and growth of Christianity in the Philippines.
Fort San Pedro
Fort San Pedro is a former military fortress in Cebu City. It is located in the area now called Plaza Indepedencia, in the pier area of the city. It is believed that in 1536 the Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi ordered to build a wooden fort .

In 1738, at the same place a triangular bastion was erected in order to repel the attacks of the Muslim raiders. The fort also served as a stronghold for Philippine revolutionaries in the late 19th century.

After it was used as a barracks, a school, an ambulance hospital, a military camp, a miniature garden, a zoo. Today it is a historical park, as well as a museum where you can look at the heritage of the Spanish dominion.
Museo Sugbo
The local Museo Sugbo is situated in a building that once served as the provincial prison of Cebu. This explains its relatively large size at the time of construction. It is believed that during the construction of the prison were used coral blocks from the Paris Church, demolished in 1878.
In 1892, the building was renovated, as a result of which more buildings were added to the main structure, which now serve as museum galleries. It is not clear from the documents when the second floor of the main building was added. It is assumed that this happened during the American colonial rule.
Chinese Taoist Temple

The history of the Philippines is closely related to the history of China. Arriving in the Philippines, Chinese immigrants brought here their culture, traditions, lifestyle.

Watching Shark Whales in Oslob

Oslob is located on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the south of Cebu Island. Until 2012, it was an ordinary fishing village until sharks began to steal fish catch from fishermen. And then the locals decided to arrange an attraction with feeding sharks.
Now this is the only place in the world where you can swim with a flock (up to 20 adults) of real wild whale sharks! They can be seen here every day.

These huge animals are very friendly, they feed on plankton and small fish. The length of the whale shark is up to 13 meters, weight is up to 20 tons. Sometimes you can find individuals 15 meters long!
